In an apparent attitude shift, the government of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has included a comprehensive review of aerospace policy and programs in its newly released 2011 budget, SpaceRef Canada reports.

The Canadian space sector, which has felt neglected for some time while the government failed to approve new space plans developed by the Canadian Space Agency and Department of Defence, should welcome a thorough review of national space policy, according to SpaceRef Canada.

The review process is expected to take a year to 18 months, if approved in a final budget; all three opposition parties have said they will not support the Harper budget in its current form.
