Orbital Sciences Corp. of Dulles, Va., unseated Northrop Grumman Technical Services of Herndon, Va., to win a $310 million contract to manage NASA’s sounding rocket program through 2015.
Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract announced July 28, Orbital Sciences’ Technical Services Division in Greenbelt, Md., will coordinate and implement NASA’s overall sounding rocket program and provide the services and supplies necessary to complete missions and projects. The NASA Sounding Rocket Operations Contract carries a maximum total value of $310 million. Orbital said in a July 30 press release that the current expected value of the award is at least $125 million.
The majority of the work will be done at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Virginia’s eastern shore.
