The Russian Space Forces on June 27 launched a Cosmos 2472 military satellite atop a Soyuz rocket from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Northern Russia, according to Russia’s state-run RIA Novosti news agency.

“The rocket put the Cosmos-series military satellite into the designated orbit at 8:08 p.m. Moscow time,” Russian Space Forces,” spokesman Lt. Col. Alexey Zolotukhin told RIA Novosti.
