Phil Sabelhaus, the veteran NASA engineer who has managed the wildly overbudget James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) for the past eight years, was reassigned Nov. 15 to replace Bill Ochs, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission project manager who is taking over JWST.
The job swap, announced by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Director Rob Strain in an internal e-mail, came five days after NASA released the findings of an independent review that found that JWST will exceed its $5 billion budget by $1.5 billion.
