Hughes Network Systems’ Spaceway 3 satellite successfully demonstrated space-based broadband services during the U.S. military’s recent Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration, according to a Jan. 27 Hughes press release.
During the annual, multinational demonstration of emerging communications technologies, Spaceway 3 was used to conduct high-definition video teleconferencing among U.S. Northern Command, the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the Space and Naval Warfare Center, the release said.
Spaceway 3, which launched in 2007, is a Ka-band commercial communications satellite with on-board packet routing and switching.
