A Russian Soyuz-U rocket launched May 17 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia carrying a classified military payload, according to a statement on the Russian space agency’s website.
“The launch has been carried out to expand the cluster of Russian military satellites in orbit,” Col. Alexey Zolutukhin, a Russian Space Forces spokesman, told Russia’s RIA Novosti state-run news agency.
