Lockheed Martin Space Systems of Sunnyvale, Calif., was awarded contracts totaling more than $96 million for operations and sustainment work for several U.S. military satellite constellations, according to a Dec. 1 Defense Department announcement.

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center awarded Lockheed Martin an eight-month, $57.3 million contract to continue supporting the Milstar and Defense Satellite Communications System constellations. The company also received a 10-month, $39.5 million contract to support the ground segment for the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite communications system starting in December 2010. The first AEHF satellite is expected to launch in late 2010.
