The Korean Aerospace Research Institute has agreed to pay Swedish Space Corp. (SSC) $200,000 to provide S-band ranging service for a weather and communications satellite slated to launch June 23 aboard Europe’s Ariane 5 rocket.
SSC will support the launch and on-orbit commissioning of South Korea’s Communications, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) from the Dongara Station in western Australia, the company said in a June 1 press release announcing the contract.
COM is co-manifested on the Ariane 5 with the Arabsat 5A telecommunications satellite.
