The U.S. arm of France-based battery maker Saft received a multimillion-dollar order from Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems of El Segundo, Calif., to deliver high-performance lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for four geostationary satellites Boeing is building for fixed satellite services firm Intelsat S.A.
The order is Saft’s first under a five-year agreement with Boeing that Cockeysville, Md.-based Saft America announced in 2009.
