China has injected fuel into a Long March 2FT1 carrier rocket in preparation for the Sept. 29 launch of its first space station module, the state-run Xinhua news service reported Sept. 28.

The Long March 2FT1 is the latest modification of the Long March 2 series. It features 170 improvements, including a more powerful thrust force, according to Wu Ping, a spokeswoman for China’s manned space program.

The 8.5-ton Tiangong-1 module is the first in a series of connecting rooms that will be launched into orbit.
