Saint-Hubert, December 5, 2000 – The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) invites
media representatives to participate in the only press conference allowing
them to interview Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Marc Garneau live from
space. The event will take place on Friday, December 8, 2000 beginning at
4:25 p.m. (EST), at the CSA in Saint-Hubert.

Media representatives who wish to participate in this event must forward the
following information to the CSA: name, phone number, name of the media they
represent, as well as the question they plan to ask Marc Garneau. The latter
information is to ensure that Dr Garneau is not asked the same question
twice, as the duration of the question period is limited to only 8 minutes
for participating Canadian media. Kindly send this information to Ms.
Caroline Lavallée, at, by Thursday, December 7 at 12:00 p.m. noon
(EST), at the latest. All media submitting a request will receive an e-mail
confirmation by Thursday, December 7 at 5:00 p.m.

Given the short duration of this press conference, only a limited number of
Canadian media will have the opportunity to ask Marc Garneau a question.
However, all media are invited to attend the event, whether at the CSA or
via NASA TV by logging to the NASA TV satellite on GE-2, Transponder 9C at
85 degrees West longitude, vertical polarisation, with a frequency of 3,880
Mhz and audio of 6.8 Mhz.
