Orbital Sciences Corp. of Dulles, Va., was awarded a five-year, $94.7 million contract from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) for research and development work related to spacecraft and airborne systems, according to an April 27 Defense Department announcement.
Under the contract, personnel from Orbital’s Greenbelt, Md.-based Technical Services Division will engage in a wide variety of analysis, design, development, prototyping and testing of various systems and subsystems in support of NRL projects. Orbital was the only bidder for the competitively awarded contract, the release said.
