Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Corp. in Azusa, Calif., will build the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) instrument for the first Joint Polar Satellite System spacecraft, JPSS-1, under a $30 million contract NASA announced Sept. 14.
The sole source letter contract runs through 2017 and calls for Northrop Grumman to manufacture, test and deliver ATMS, support instrument integration on JPSS-1, and provide launch and post-launch support, NASA said.
JPSS is the restructured civilian portion of the National Polar-orbiting Environmental Satellite System.
