United Space Alliance (USA) of Houston was awarded a $165 million contract extension to provide mission and flight crew operations support for the international space station and human space exploration activities after the space shuttle is retired next year, NASA announced Nov. 22.

USA’s Integrated Mission Operations Contract extension begins Oct. 1, 2011 and runs through Sept. 30, 2012. The one-year extension increases the total value of the contract, which began in November 2008, to $373 million.
