Saint-Hubert, April 17, 2001- The Honourable Brian Tobin, Minister of
Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), will
attend the launch of STS-100, Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Chris
Hadfield’s mission to install Canadarm2 on the International Space Station,
at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. During this historic mission,
Hadfield will also become the first Canadian ever to step out of the space
shuttle and float freely in space.

Following a conversation with Chris Hadfield on April 18, Minister Tobin
will be available for interviews with media at the Kennedy Space Center from
10:00 to 11:00 am EDT. Telephone interviews may be arranged by contacting
the CSA’s Media Relations Office.

Minister Tobin will also be available for interviews at KSC’s Media Center
soon after the launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour on April 19, 2001 (the
launch is scheduled for 2:41 pm EDT). Telephone interviews may be arranged
