WASHINGTON — MDA Corp. of Richmond, British Columbia, said Jan. 13 it had won a contract worth $5.2 million to provide a communications antenna subsystem for an unspecified Boeing-built satellite.

In a press release, MDA said the satellite is a Boeing 702MP, or medium-power, platform being built for an undisclosed customer. Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems of El Segundo, California, booked one commercial 702MP satellite contract during 2014: the Intelsat 35e high-throughput satellite for Intelsat of Washington and Luxembourg.

Intelsat 35e will be part of Intelsat’s Epic series of high-throughput satellites operating in the C- and Ku-bands. A total of six Epic satellites have been ordered from Boeing, with the first scheduled to launch in 2015.
