Hughes Network Systems LLC of Germantown, Md., announced June 26 that it was chosen to supply a satellite broadband hub and terminals for a rural connectivity project in Ecuador.
Telconet, a telecommunications service provider based in Guayaquil, Ecuador, said in a Hughes press release that it purchased an HX network hub and HX50 and HX200 terminals from Hughes on behalf of Ecuador’s Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Society.
“We are excited about this network connecting rural and underserved areas in Ecuador, bringing to these isolated communities Internet access, data, voice, and video applications for the first time,” Telconet President Tomislav Topic said in the press release.
