El Segundo, Calif.-based Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems said March 9 it has completed the preliminary design review (PDR) for the Inmarsat-5 Global Xpress spacecraft and hosted payloads.

Mobile satellite services provider Inmarsat of London ordered the three large Ka-band satellites from Boeing in 2010. The satellites are based on Boeing’s 702HP spacecraft platform. The first Global Xpress satellite is expected to launch in 2013, according to the Boeing press release.
