Boeing Commercial Satellite Services and Artel LLC will collaborate on the sale of Inmarsat L- and Ka-band mobile satellite services to the U.S. government under an agreement announced March 6.

Boeing created its services arm in the wake of winning a three-satellite order from London- based Inmarsat. In addition to building three large Inmarsat

5/Global Xpress Ka-band satellites , Boeing agreed to invest in the Inmarsat Global Xpress business under a take-or-pay arrangement.

The agreement with Inmarsat on Global Xpress, set to start in late 2013, was extended with the designation of Boeing Commercial Satellite Services as a distributor of Inmarsat’s heritage L-band services as well.

Reston, Va.-based Artel is a major provider of commercial satellite services to the U.S. Department of Defense.
