Arianespace announced today that it has reached agreement with ViaSat on a renegotiation of its launch services agreement that will secure launch capability for the ViaSat-1 high-capacity satellite should the need arise. The agreement also applies advanced payments made under the ViaSat-1 launch services agreement to a potential future ViaSat satellite launch by Arianespace.

“Arianespace is committed to the success of ViaSat and as such is pleased to provide enhanced schedule assurance for their future satellite payloads,” said Arianespace Chairman and CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall.

“Arianespace is a world class supplier and they will be in a leading position for future satellite projects, should we decide to pursue them,” said Tom Moore, president of ViaSat Satellite Holdings. “They are also a great partner to have for any schedule contingency on our ViaSat-1 launch.”
