A gentle reminder that the deadline for submitting abstracts for CSEW5 is fast approaching, although it has now been extended to April 15, 2005. Whether your expertise lies in planetary geology, astrobiology, planetary atmospheres, small bodies, life support systems, terrestrial analogues or elsewhere, the anticipated themes of this workshop will appeal to everyone interested in the future of space exploration in Canada. These themes include:
- recent advances in space and planetary science research
- results of recent and ongoing missions
- concept and/or planned instruments for future missions
- concepts for future missions
- exploration science, terrestrial analogue studies and astrobiology field studies
- preparation for human exploration of the Moon and Mars
- future priorities for the Canadian scientific community
In light of recent space exploration mission results, restructuring at the Canadian Space Agency and evolving exploration programs at NASA and ESA, this meeting will be important for determining Canada’s priorities for space exploration and related scientific research in the coming years. CSEW5 will be more traditional in structure compared to previous ones, with a combination of oral and poster presentations. However, open discussions are essential and will be facilitated through break-out sessions and panel discussions. Don’t forget that there is some travel assistance available for students!
