Mark Bitterman, the veteran space lobbyist, is going to work for United Launch Alliance (ULA), according to his most recent former employer, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX).
Elon Musk, founder and chief executive officer of SpaceX, told Space News Sept. 13 that Bitterman had jumped ship for Denver, Colo.-based ULA.
ULA spokesman Chris Chavez would not confirm or deny that Bitterman had joined the company, but said ULA would be making an announcement Sept. 19.
ULA would be Bitterman’s third employer in three months. He stepped down as SpaceX’s Washington-based senior vice president of government affairs in August after just several weeks on the job. Prior to joining SpaceX, he had spent 19 years at rival Orbital Sciences Corp.
