China conducted its fifth launch in seven weeks Sept. 22, lofting the Yaogan 11 remote-sensing satellite into orbit atop a Long March 2D rocket, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news service.
The launch occurred at 10:42 a.m. Beijing time at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.
The satellite will be used to conduct scientific experiments, carry out land resource surveys, estimate crop yield and help with natural disaster response, according to Xinhua.
