Saint-Hubert (Quebec), March 16, 2001 — The Canadian Space Agency (CSA)
invites the media to attend a briefing on the upcoming STS-100 mission
followed by a training session on the Canadarm2 simulators.
The first Canadian spacewalk by CSA Astronaut Chris Hadfield, the
installation and deployment of Canadarm2, Canada’s next-generation space
robot and the first “hand-off” in space between Canadarm2 and the original
arm, will all be the subject of the briefing.
Media attending will also have the opportunity to test their skills at the
controls of the Canadarm2 on a training simulator, where astronauts from
around the world learn to operate the new arm.
A media book on the mission will be distributed along with a Betacam copy
(B-Roll) and a CD of photos of CSA Astronaut Hadfield and of the Canadarm2.
