Greenbelt, Md.-based Global Science & Technology Inc. (GST) said May 9 that it had been awarded a task order worth up to $22.8 million over five years to provide technical and engineering services in support of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Adminstration’s (NOAA) Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program.
“GST will perform technical and engineering services in support of the JPSS Calibration and Validation plan,” GST President Chieh-san Cheng said in a statement. “Essentially, our work will include the engineering and technical support associated with checking out the spacecraft and testing its instruments after launch. This period of testing is referred to as calibration and validation, also known as ‘Cal/Val.’”
The task order was awarded under the NOAA Scientific and Technical Support Services Next Generation contract. GST and its subcontractors comprise one of five teams eligible to compete for work under the $550 million indefinite-quantity, indefinite-delivery contract NOAA awarded in December 2011.
