Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Sensors of Moorestown, N.J., has been awarded a $30 million contract modification from the U.S. Missile Defense Agency to install and test a ballistic missile defense system on three Navy destroyers.
The contract was announced by the Department of Defense Feb. 7. The Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system, consisting of tracking radars and a battle management system, was used in a large scale and complex missile defense test in October.
The change increases the total cost of the contract from $1.286 billion to $1.316 billion. The work is expected to be completed by March 15, 2015.
