NASA’s budget would rise to $17.9 billion in 2015 under an appropriations bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives May 30.

The $250 million increase for NASA was included in the $51.2 billion Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Act for 2015 (H.R. 4660) The bill, which also includes $2 billion for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Satellite and Information Service, was approved by a vote of 321-87.

A competing bill is slated to be marked up June 3 by the Senate Appropriations commerce, justice, science subcommittee.
