U.S. Cyber Command Goes Active; Commander Named

The Pentagon formally activated U.S. Cyber Command on May 21, installing National Security Agency Director Keith Alexander, a four-star Army general, as its first commander.

Co-located with the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Md., Cyber Command was created to pull together existing Pentagon resources to defend military systems against computer hackers and other cyber threats.
