The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore will continue to manage Hubble Space Telescope science operations through April 2013 under a three-year contract extension awarded to STScI’s parent organization, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy.

The contract extension has a total estimated value of approximately $113 million, NASA said in an April 19 press release.

STScI is responsible for planning and executing Hubble science operations, maintaining and operating the telescope’s instruments, administering grants and conducting research.
