The Canadian Space Commerce Association (CSCA) is pleased to welcome the addition of five new corporate members.
Joining the CSCA as new corporate members are; Euroconsult Canada, Western University’s Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX), MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA), Space Strategies Consulting Ltd. (SSCL) and the Institute for Space Science, Exploration and Technology at the University of Alberta.
“The addition of five new corporate members to the association reflects the ongoing need for an organization such as ours to work with all Canadian stakeholders to promote the importance and benefits of a growing space sector to all Canadians,” said CSCA Executive Director, Marc Boucher. “The global space market grew by 9% last year to $330 billion and is increasingly competitive. If Canada is to maintain and grow its share of that market we need all stakeholders to work together. This is a goal the CSCA is working towards with its members on a daily basis.”
“We are pleased to join the CSCA and look forward to becoming an active member in the organization,” said Adam Keith, Managing Director of Euroconsult Canada. “Euroconsult’s Canadian office opened in 2008; since then we have established ourselves not only as a local arm of our international organization, but also as a center of expertise on both specific market segments and Canadian-specific commercial and governmental space business. Our presence in the CSCA further cements our commitment to the Canadian space industry.”
“On behalf of all our faculty, students, and staff, I am delighted that CPSX is now an official member of the CSCA. CPSX recognizes the importance of the role of the CSCA in promoting Canadian space interests. We also recognize the critical need for closer collaboration between Canadian companies and universities and we look forward to working with CSCA and its members in ensuring that Canada continues to play a leading role in the Space exploration and utilization” said Gordon Osinski, Associate Professor and Director (Acting), Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration.
“MDA is very pleased to join CSCA. Today, Canada is a world leader in major areas of space including space radar, robotics, communications and space optics. The opportunity for Canada and Canadian industry to continue to grow and be global leaders in these and other areas is very large and we look forward to working with the CSCA to maintain this leadership in the years to come.” said Don Osborne, president of MDA’s Information Systems Group.
“SSCL is very pleased to join CSCA. As an association, the CSCA plays an important role promoting the space industry in Canada, fostering innovation and ensuring that Canada remains a leading space-faring nation. We look forward to working closely with all members of the CSCA,” said SSCL President, André Dupuis.
Chris Herd, Principal Director of ISSET said “we recognize that the mandate of the CSCA – of promoting the space industry in Canada, and providing an interface between the various stakeholders in Canadian space research and exploration – complements the ISSET mandate. We look forward to working with the CSCA to provide novel opportunities for students to connect with industrial partners.”
