PARIS — Satellite components manufacturer Thales Alenia Space Espana of Spain will provide telemetry, tracking and control, and radio frequency equipment for two commercial satellites under construction by Lockheed Martin and Space Systems/Loral under contracts announced May 10.

The contracts, valued at about 4 million euros ($5.2 million) combined, bring to more than 20 million euros the work Thales Alenia Espana is currently undertaking on 10 satellites being built by U.S. manufacturers. The company said this current workload makes it Spain’s biggest exporter of space products to the United States.

“We are very satisfied with our competitive position in export markets, particularly the highly demanding U.S. market,” Thales Alenia Space Espana Chief Executive Juan Garces de Marcilla said in a statement.

The Spanish company’s equipment will be used for the all-Ka-band Jabiru-1 satellite under construction by Lockheed Martin Space Systems of Sunnyvale, Calif., for NewSat of Australia. For Palo Alto, Calif.-based Space Systems/Loral, the Spanish company will be providing gear for the newly contracted Star One C4 satellite for Brazil’s Star One satellite fleet operator.
