El Segundo, California Nov. 28 – The SpaceX Falcon space launch vehicle begins its cross-country journey to Washington, DC covered in blue aboard a flatbed truck. The 68-foot long rocket is the first partially-reusable space launcher to be developed since the space shuttle in 1974. The craft is scheduled to make its inaugural launch in early 2004.
The transport, carrying an actual Falcon space vehicle, will cross the continental U.S. and will be formally unveiled by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and a crowd of Washington, DC dignitaries at 8pm Thursday December 4th near the National Air and Space Museum on the Mall in DC.
