KINGSTON, ON – Young space professionals from across Canada will be
gathering at Queen’s University on Saturday for Space Summit 2001.
Sponsored by the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space
(SEDS – Canada) and the Canadian Space Exploration Development Institute
(CSEDI), Space Summit 2001 is an effort to coordinate Canadian space science
and education activities.
The highlight of the morning session will be a presentation on astrobiology,
by Dr. H. Vali, Associate Professor, and Director of the Electron Microscopy
centre at McGill University in Montreal. Speakers from space advocacy
societies across Canada will also be making presentations.
In the afternoon, participants will be divided into working groups to
discuss ways to promote space exploration activity and support in Canada.
It is also expected that CSEDI will make its first ever Call for Papers to
prepare for the launch of the Canadian Journal of Space Exploration, a
quarterly academic journal set to begin publication this fall.
Space Summit 2001 begins at 9 a.m. in the Richardson Labs Amphitheatre at
Queen’s University, Kingston, and all are welcome to attend.

Space Summit 2001 is an effort to coordinate Canadian space science and
education activities. This workshop will gather Canadian space
organizations together to discuss public outreach, government support
and university research. Participating groups include SEDS-Canada,
CSEDI, Canadian Alumni of the International Space University, Canadian
Space Society and the Mars Society of Canada. SEDS-Canada and CSEDI are
hosting this FREE event to discuss space policies of interest to the
Canadian space exploration community. There is no attendance fee and all
are welcome to attend.

Directions: Take Division St exit off Highway 401. Following exit,
take a right on Division St towards downtown. Follow Division St, past
