Members of the public are invited to celebrate the “Grand Finale” of NASA’s Cassini mission on Sept. 7 at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The free event will be held at the NASA Goddard Visitor Center on ICESat Road in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The Cassini spacecraft will end its long journey of exploration on Friday, Sept. 15, by diving into Saturn’s atmosphere, sending science data until the very end and bringing to a close a successful 20-year mission.

This event at the Goddard Visitor Center will include presentations by scientists, hands-on activities, exhibits and telescope viewings. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. EDT. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Be sure to visit the Astrobiology Walk and the Solarium, an innovative video experience that surrounds you with mesmerizing imagery of the Sun. And spend time in the Science on a Sphere auditorium to see dramatic, full-motion views of Earth and other planets on a special globe-shaped screen.
