International Observe the Moon Night occurs around the world on October 8, and this year, the public is invited to participate in this free event at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center Visitor Center on October 8, 2011 from 7 to 10 p.m. ET.
People around the world will celebrate the 2nd annual International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) night on October 8, 2011 by pausing to look up at Earth’s nearest neighbor and learning about it too! This year’s theme focuses on cultural connections to the Moon and connecting art to science, through the question: What does the Moon mean to you?
No reservations are needed, just come to the Visitor’s Center of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center on IceSat Road, Greenbelt, Md. Anyone of any age who is excited about the Moon is welcome to attend. The InOMN event will feature:
– Talks by NASA lunar scientists
– Moon stories from cultural groups
– Hands-on activities, such as Impact Paintings and Oreo Phases
– A Science as Art gallery
– An art gallery featuring art YOU make at the event!
– Science on a Sphere movie presentations
– Telescope viewing
– And more!
