Hughes Network Systems of Germantown, Md., has signed a licensing agreement with value-added reseller Operation AC to provide U.S. and coalition troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with satellite-based broadband Internet services, according to a Feb. 23 Hughes press release.

The not-for-profit Operation AC organization was founded to bring goods and services to deployed troops, and with this new arrangement it will be able to provide them with subsidized Internet services. Donations made to the foundation can be designated to one or more specific service members, the release said.
