The National Space Biomedical Institute (NSBI) in Houston will continue to conduct research in support of NASA’s human spaceflight program through September 2017 under a renewed five-year agreement worth $120 million, NASA announced March 28.

NASA’s cooperative agreement with NSBI began in 1997 and has now been renewed four times for a total value of $484.2 million.

NSBI studies the health risks related to long-duration spaceflight and develops countermeasures to mitigate them.
