MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.
announced today that the company’s Geographic Information Products
Group has been awarded a $2.1 million (CDN) order by an Asian customer for
information products from RADARSAT-1.

RADARSAT-1 is a reliable source of data because it works in all kinds of
weather conditions and darkness. Asia’s tropical climate brings heavy rainfall
and cloud cover to the region.

For over six years the customer has been using information products from
RADARSAT-1 for a variety of purposes, primarily as an input to rice yield
forecasting models and the mapping of rice acreage. It’s also used for
defence, ship monitoring, and pollution control.
