MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a provider of essential information solutions, announced today it has signed contracts for more than $4 million (CAD) with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These contracts will upgrade the existing Instrument Procedure Development System (IPDS) to be compliant with the FAA and U.S. Department of Defense’s Information Technology policy and provide expanded integration with the FAA’s enterprise-wide flight procedure automation initiative.

MDA has been providing on-going services related to implementation and integration of the upgrades to FAA’s existing enterprise-wide instrument flight procedure automation initiative since January 2007. The IPDS is part of a joint initiative between the FAA and the U.S. Department of Defense to create an automated solution to modernize instrument procedure design practices and to harmonize military and civilian air navigation in the long term.
