MDA Ltd. (TSX:MDA), a leading provider of advanced technology and services to the rapidly expanding global space industry, today announced Anita Bernie has joined the company as Managing Director for the company’s United Kingdom (UK) business operations, reporting to MDA CEO, Mike Greenley. Bernie takes over from David Kenyon, who transitions into a European focused business development role with the company.

Ms. Bernie has held Director level positions with multiple organizations during her distinguished career, including nine years at Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, and most recently with the space systems company KISPE. She is also an Honorary Group Captain of Royal Air Force 601 Squadron, a Board Member of nanosatellite pioneers AAC Clyde Space and of the Institute of Directors, a trustee of the Air League and a STEM advocate and mentor.

“We are thrilled to welcome someone of Anita’s stature and pedigree to the growing MDA family as we add business leadership and capacity to maximize our market opportunity in the UK,” said Mike Greenley, Chief Executive Officer of MDA. “As leaders in space-based technologies and operations, Anita’s addition will allow us to focus executive attention on expanding our footprint in the UK, while continuing to seize on growth opportunities throughout the European continent.”

Ms. Bernie’s appointment coincides with rapid growth of MDA in the UK. In 2021, MDA more than doubled its employee-base in the country to 35, with plans to double that number again over the next 12 months. To accommodate business growth, the company has announced plans to move into larger and dedicated MDA premises on the Harwell site in the newly completed BEPO building. The facility will include substantial cleanrooms and a state-of-the art development laboratory.
