Space Systems/Loral said June 9 that EchoStar 15, a direct broadcast satellite built for DISH Network, has left Palo Alto, Calif., for the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, where it is scheduled to launch in early July aboard a Proton Breeze M rocket provided by Reston, Va.-based International Launch Services.

EchoStar 15, like the Echostar 14 satellite that launched in March carrying 103 Ku-band transponders, is based on the Space Systems/Loral 1300 satellite frame.
