Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 26 October 2001 – Intelsat today announced the
opening of a customer support and sales office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil —
its first regional service center in Latin America.

The office, Intelsat Brasil Ltda., will serve customers in Brazil and
Uruguay, and will be led by Regional Director Manoel Carlos P. de Almeida.
The service center will manage customer service needs as well as new
business requests, and is expected to help strengthen Intelsat’s commercial
activities in Latin America.

John Stanton, President of Intelsat Global Sales & Marketing Ltd., stated,
“Brazil accounted for almost 25 percent of our revenue in Latin America last
year. We expect that Intelsat’s new sales and marketing presence in Rio de
Janeiro will enhance our level of customer service in Latin America and
facilitate the roll-out of next generation services.”

Luiz Francisco Perrone, Director of Anatel, the Brazilian regulator,
commented, “I am very pleased that Intelsat has chosen to open its first
Latin American office in Brazil. As a regulator and indirect customer, I
welcome the increased competition in Brazil, and the additional choices and
services which competition brings.”

Last year, Intelsat implemented the first 155 Mbps Internet satellite link
between the U.S. and Brazil over the Intelsat 805 satellite in order to
satisfy increased demand in the region. Internet is the fastest growing
market in Latin America, with 77 percent growth in the past year.
Intelsat’s current nine-satellite launch campaign, which is expected to be
completed by 2003, should bring six additional satellites to the region to
accommodate high demand.

Ruben Levcovitz, Group Director, Latin America Sales, added, “Our new office
in Rio brings us closer to our Latin American customers, allowing us to
focus on the Intelsat services and solutions they need to grow their
businesses. We are committed to providing both established and emerging
companies with fast, easily accessible and superior customer service.”

Intelsat Brasil, Ltda. is located at Avenida Rio Branco 1, Sala 1601, Centro
Empresarial Internacional, Rio de Janeiro, RJ CEP 20090-003. The office can
