Hughes Network Systems LLC of Germantown, Md., recently completed a demonstration of its advanced airborne video solution for a government agency, the company said in a July 26 press release.

Using an aircraft platform provided by Row 44 of Westlake Village, Calif., the Hughes airborne video solution delivered data rates of 2 megabits per second from the air and displayed high-resolution video on the ground, the release said. The airborne video system uses a commercial Hughes HX router and the HX ExpertNMS network management software.

“Our airborne technology has advanced rapidly,” Rick Lober, vice president of Hughes’ defense and intelligence systems division, said in the press release. “Our new airborne video solution features speeds five times greater than what is currently available — delivering groundbreaking performance at an affordable cost.”
