U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) plans to travel to Kennedy Space Center, Fla., to watch her husband, NASA astronaut Mark Kelly, take flight on the Space Shuttle Endeavor, The Hill newspaper reported March 11.

Giffords, who was shot in the head Jan. 8, will attend the April 19 launch if her recovery continues to be successful and she is in good health, said her spokesman, C.J. Karamargin.

Kelly was named the commander of Endeavor before the shooting outside a grocery store in Tucson, Ariz., and there was speculation he might step down. In early February, however, he announced he would make the flight.
