General Dynamics C4 Systems said Sept. 1 that it has been awarded a U.S. Air Force contract worth as much as $900 million to produce Transportable Ground Receive Suites (TGRS) for the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) the military uses to provide broadcast services to troops around the world.

The five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract awarded by the GBS Joint Program Office at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts calls for production of approximately 1,500 TGRS and 1,100 retrofit kits for systems already in the field, General Dynamics said in a press release.

The majority of the work will be performed in Taunton, Mass. General Dynamics Satcom Technologies in Richardson and Kilgore, Texas, and in Newton, N.C., will provide antennas, radiofrequency equipment and transit cases.
