A longtime employee of NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland has been charged with illegally shipping infrared military technology to South Korea, the U.S. Justice Department announced Jan. 10.
Kue Sang Chun, 66, of Avon Lake, Ohio, was charged with one count of exporting defense articles on the U.S. Munitions List without first obtaining export licenses or written authorization from the U.S. State Department. He also was charged with one count of submitting a falsified U.S. individual tax return.
The Justice Department said Kue is not accused of taking technology or related materials from NASA Glenn. But between March 2000 and November 2005, according to the criminal complaint, Kue illegally exported to South Korea infrared focal plane array detectors and infrared camera engines.
