The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and RWTH Aachen University (Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen) of Germany have agreed to cooperate in promoting comprehensive collaborative activities in the field of research and education. On September 28, representatives of the two parties signed the Framework Agreement for Cooperation at the RWTH Aachen University to conclude the deal. This is the first time for JAXA to enter into a comprehensive cooperation agreement with an overseas university.

Established in 1870, RWTH Aachen University is one of the most renowned universities in Germany. It has been selected twice in a row* as one of the top six universities that are carrying out excellent initiatives in the academic and research areas by the German government. *The first selection term was between 2006/07 and 2012, and the second term is from 2012 to 2017.
