China successfully launched a remote sensing satellite Aug. 10 from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern Shanxi province aboard a Long March 4C rocket, the state-controlled Xinhua news agency reported.
The Yaogan 10 satellite will be used for scientific experiments, crop monitoring, resource mapping and disaster mitigation, Xinhua said. The satellite’s predecessor, Yaogan 9, was launched in March from the Jiquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwestern Gansu province, the news agency said.
