Birthday Celebrations for Chief Designer of rocket and space systems academician Sergei Pavlovich Korolev

January 12, 2002 is the 95^th birthday of Chief Designer
of rocket and space systems academician Sergei Pavlovich Korolev – an
outstanding scientist, organizer, the man who put the space science
theory into practice, the founder of world-famous company bearing his
name since 1991.

Today at S.P.Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, and in Korolev
and Moscow, ceremonies were held to commemorate this anniversary.

At RSC Energia museum there was an award ceremony for winners and participants
in the contest of young scientists and specialists for 2001 Academician
S.P.Korolev Prize instituted by Administration of the town of Korolev.
Prizes , diplomas and medals of contest winners were awarded to young
employees of the Corporation: A.S.Anfalov (1st prize), A.L.Polovtsev
(2nd prize) and S.N.Nosachev (3rd prize). Diplomas from the Head
of the town and books were also given as souvenirs to other active participants
in the contest among whom there were two representatives of RSC Energia.

The contest winners and participants were greeted by: N.S.Koroleva (a
daughter of Sergei Pavlovich Korolev), Corporation managers and specialists,
representatives of town Administration and general public, a deputy
of the Moscow region Duma V.M.Baranov.

Then the managers and representatives of the company employees, of the
town Administration and general public, assiciates of Sergei Korolev
and veterans of the Corporation, S.P.Korolev’s relatives laid flowers
at memorial plaques and monuments to the outstanding scientist and designer
that are located on the territory of the Corporation and the town of
Korolev, as well as in the Alley Of Cosmonauts in Moscow. Flowers were
also laid at the Kremlin wall, at the burial places of S.P.Korolev and
world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
