Emcore Corp. of Albuquerque, N.M., said April 16 that it was awarded a $6 million contract by Ball Aerospace & Technologies to design, manufacture, test and deliver solar panels for a new classified spacecraft the Boulder, Colo.-based company is building.
The solar panels Emcore will deliver to Ball under the two-year contract will be made of Emcore’s highest performance space-grade solar cells, the company said in a press release.
Ball spokeswoman Roz Brown would not identify the spacecraft or the customer. “It’s a restricted program,” she said in an April 16 email.
